I don't know of a full-blown Exchangeish service that's free. I'm wrestling with the same issues now on my Android ICS device. I have an Exchange in the cloud setup for the account in question, but still haven't come up with a great solution to get the info to the Android device. Figuring this out is on my plate for sometime this summer, but that doesn't help you now, I'm afraid.

I see that there is a "to do list" function within the Hotmail calendar. Do you know if you can sync it with Outlook tasks?
What I'm looking for is a simple (?Free) way to connect my Outlook (2010) data with my Android (2.3) phone via the cloud. I know about the paid for solutions (Companionlink, gsyncit etc), but it would be nice to have the full functionality of an Exchange server (including tasks) which the Hotmail/Live online service offers. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the article. I’ve more or less set this up ok now.<br

The POP3 connection between Yahoo and Outlook doesn't allow for any kind of synchronization. It allows you to copy messages from Yahoo to Outlook, and delete the copies after reading them or not, but that's it. There's none of the synchronization you can get when you have an IMAP connection. It isn't clear why Yahoo supports only POP3 connections to desktops and IMAP connections to mobile devices, but that's the way they do things.
Sorry I can't be of more help with this.

I setup the same email in iPhone also using IMAP and SMTP. Now when I download the mails into my Outlook 2010, all messages shows as "UnRead" even if I read already in iPhone. Is there any way to synchronize between iPhone, Yahoo Mail Server and/or Outlook 2010?

I have a yahoo small business email which I setup in MS Outlook 2010 (POP3/SMTP) and left the option “Leave a copy of messages on the server” checked. It appears that the last part of your message didn't make it. But from what I do see here, it sounds like your account hasn't been upgraded to Yahoo Mail Plus, or for some reason the upgrade process wasn't finished at Yahoo's end when you ran into this problem.
Have you upgraded your free Yahoo Mail account to a Yahoo Mail Plus account?
If so, can you check again to see if the connection is working now?
Let us know what you find.
Thanks.

This is a stumper. You say that Outlook won't connect. Are you seeing some specific error message, or is Outlook simply failing to download messages, or something else?

In the past I have been able to re-enter the server settings and it starts working again. This time nothing works. My iPhone is still working and my Android tablet is still connected and working plus webmail works. I just can't make my outlook connect. This happened after I did a sync with my iPhone. None of the settings have changed and they are the same on my other devices. I am stumpted.

I have been using Outlook 2010 with my Yahoo accounts for several years. about once a year Outlook stops talking to both inbound and outbound services. Can you give me more information on how it is failing to work? We may be able to get you going (or at least figure out what's going on).
