Configure Gmail IMAP Access Manually

Next you need to configure Gmail IMAP options. People have a tendency to forget to configure the Gmail side of the Gmail-Outlook connection, but you won’t. And it only takes a minute or two to set up.

Configure Gmail IMAP Settings

Follow these steps:

  1. On any Gmail page, click Settings. This opens the Settings page.
  2. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP link. This opens the Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings tabbed page.

  3. Gmail IMAP


  4. In step 1, Status: IMAP, select Enable IMAP.
  5. Skip step 2 and click Save Changes.

That’s all it takes.

Now that you have the Gmail IMAP settings correct, return to the Manual Gmail Outlook Connections page.
